On 30 September 2024, Sydney Water, WaterNSW, Water Administration Ministerial Corporation (WAMC) and Hunter Water lodged their pricing proposals to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART). This is the first time these businesses have developed submissions in response to the new 3Cs framework (a framework which URA advised IPART in the development and implementation).
URA was fortunate to work with all four of these businesses in what is a landmark price review.
On 1 November 2024, IPART released its Issues Paper for each business
- Sydney Water and WaterNSW Greater Sydney proposals
- WaterNSW regional and bulk water
- Water Administration Ministerial Corporation
- Hunter Water
On 19 December 2024, IPART announced that it will extend its review of prices that Sydney Water is proposing to charge by 3 months to ensure all aspects of the proposal can be given appropriate consideration, which will mean the prices determined at the end of the review would apply from 1 October 2025. IPART expects to publish a draft report with its draft pricing decisions in May 2025 and will invite consultation from all stakeholders at that time.
